Fracture Table vs. Lateral Positioning for Intramedullary Fixation of Femur Fractures: A pilot cluster randomized crossover trial
McMaster Led
PI: Dr. Daniel Axelrod, Sheila Sprague
Local PI: Dr. Herman Johal
Project Coordinator: Jodi Gallant (gallaj4@mcmaster.ca)
Status: 3- Recruiting
Recruitment Start Date: October 2020
Recruitment End Date: TBD
Objective: To assess the feasibility of a definitive cluster randomized crossover trial to determine the effect of lateral patient positioning versus supine positioning with fracture table use for reamed antegrade intramedullary fixation of femur fractures.
Funding Received: Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Hamilton Academic Health Sciences Organization (HAHSO), Canadian Orthopaedic Trauma Society (COTS)
Anatomical Location: Midshaft femur fractures appropriate for antegrade fixation.
